Louise Sweet KC represented a man accused of allegations of sexual assaults, dating back to the 1990’s, who will not now face prosecution after the court accepted defence submissions that it was no longer fair to try him. Experts agreed that the defendant’s physical and cognitive decline subsequent to the charges made it impossible for him to participate in a trial or fitness to plead hearing in any meaningful way. This ruling brought the proceedings to an end.
