Louise Sweet QC successfully defends in high profile prosecution of Met Police officer accused of rape

Louise Sweet QC successfully defended a Metropolitan Police officer accused of raping a woman at a five star hotel. The prosecution were persuaded to review the case following representations from Louise, and accepted that “it no longer met the threshold”. Louise commented “evidence in every allegation, especially sexual allegations, which have the potential to leave such a lasting stain on a man’s character, must be carefully scrutinised.”
