On day three of the trial at Maidstone Crown Court, the Crown offered no evidence against Jessica Ward’s client following her cross examination of the Complainant. The sole issue in the case was one of identification. Following Jessica’s cross examination, the Crown reviewed the case and decided that the prosecution no longer had a realistic prospect of conviction. The case had been plagued by disclosure problems and following the Crown’s decision to offer no evidence, the Judge commented that “lessons must be learnt” from this.
