Michael Wolkind QC represented MA, a young solicitor who diverted a client from his employer’s to another firm of which the defendant was himself the sole Director. He asked his employer’s office manager to destroy the file and took fees at the new firm.
It was argued at trial that MA had not been personally competent to handle the case and all his actions were in the client’s best interest. The jury took nearly 10 minutes to acquit.
