Stan Reiz KC represented “T” who faced allegations of murder and two offences of conspiracy to cause GBH. The Crown’s case was that T was one of 8 males armed with zombie knives who forced entry into three properties looking for rival gang members to attack. At the third property, a 16 year old boy was brutally stabbed to death in front of his mother. T admitted that he was present with the others for an unlawful purpose and that he was armed. He denied intending to kill or cause really serious harm. Following a 7 week trial, the jury acquitted T of murder and two counts of conspiracy to cause GBH. He was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years detention. Another defendant convicted of murder was sentenced to detention for life with a minimum term of 28 years.
