After 3 1/2 years and several trials, Andrew Swallow, represented by Michael Wolkind QC, was finally acquitted this week at the Harrow Crown Court.
Swallow had been accused of serious football violence in 2003 at a match between Tottenham and West Ham and his co-defendant, James Low, represented by Barry Gilbert and a junior, had become involved when he was selected for Swallow’s jury. Low was also acquitted last week having faced trial with Swallow on a charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The prosecution accused Low of manipulating the system and having his service moved from Snaresbrook to Wood Green and having the date changed to tie in with Swallow’s trial. He had also been accused of intimidating witnesses to give false addresses.
