Richard Whittam QC secured a further conviction against a businessman for selling fake bomb, drug and other substance detectors. James MCormick was convicted earlier this year and sentenced to the maximum term of 10 years’ imprisonment for making and selling fake bomb detectors in Iraq. On Friday Gary Bolton was convicted of making a supplying articles for use in fraud. He sought to claim that the devices worked on a principle similar to water divining. The jury rejected that explanation. He is to be sentenced on 20 August.
