R v Ben Igbinedion

Richard Whittam QC and Louise Oakley were instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service in the trial of Ben Igbinedion who was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years for the murder of his three year old nephew. Igbinedion inflicted injuries on the three year old that were ‘consistent with a fall from a tower block, or of being trampled upon by a stampede of horses’.

The trial raised complex and sensitive issues that involved a hostile witness who was just 10 years old.
