Christine Agnew QC and Charlotte Brewer appeared on behalf of Leslie McLeod before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council on 24th October 2016.
They successfully argued that Mr McLeod’s conviction for Murder should be referred back to the Jamaican Court of Appeal for a factual dispute to be resolved. That dispute centred on whether Mr McLeod had an opportunity to provide instructions to his counsel on the question of whether he should give evidence or provide an unsworn statement from the dock.
