Mortgage fraud trial collapses

Jamas Hodivala and Vedrana Pehar, instructed by Bark & Co, secured the acquittal at Bristol Crown Court of the lead defendant who had been charged with six others of conspiracy to defraud mortgage lenders. Despite guilty pleas from three defendants, the Crown eventually offered no evidence against the remaining defendants after 7 weeks of the trial following cross-examination of the mortgage brokers and disclosure of a police report detailing an Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme agreement that entitled the police to recover 18.5% of confiscated assets in the event of a guilty verdict.
