Money laundering conviction quashed

William Clegg QC represented Amer Ramzan who had been convicted of Money Laundering offences in relation to the operation of a Bureau de Change. Mr Ramzan had his conviction quashed by the Court of Appeal, following a CCRC Reference when the Court applied the reasoning of the House of Lords in the case of Saik and the Court of Appeal in the case of Liaquat Ali and rejected arguments advanced by the Respondents that sought to distinguish the effect of those authorities.
