Ian Stern QC represented an eminent Consultant Orthopaedic Consultant who had carried out a knee operation on a patient who died during the course of it. The GMC alleged that the doctor had made significant modifications to equipment that caused the air embolism. They alleged that this was irresponsible and that he failed to provide good clinical care. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service found all the allegations not proved.
