Simeon also has experience conducting appeals to the Crown Court, both against sentence and conviction.

Notable criminal defence cases

R v LV

LV was acquitted of robbery despite being confidently identified by prosecution witnesses as the leader of the group.

R v MA

MA was acquitted of six offences against police officers after Simeon identified serious flaws in the disclosure process on the day of trial.

R v RW

RW was accused of assaulting his ex-partner. He was acquitted after Simeon’s cross-examination revealed serious inconsistencies in the complainant’s account.

R v OF

OF was acquitted of careless driving after an all-day trial.

R v TL

TL was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, having been found with the car hours after it was stolen. He was acquitted after trial.

R v IT

IT was charged with driving without insurance and made full admissions at the roadside. After cross examining the officer, Simeon was able to persuade the court that the admissions could not be relied upon and the charges were dismissed.

R v JC

JC was accused of public order offences in a domestic context. He was acquitted after a submission of no case to answer when careful cross-examination revealed that one of the complainants had coached another family member to lie to police.

R v KC

Trial on possession of a bladed article. KC was acquitted despite three prosecution witnesses alleging he had been in possession of a knife.

R v BW

BW’s sentence for multiple offences was reduced from 22 weeks to six on appeal.

Prosecution

Simeon prosecutes in the Crown court, magistrates’ courts and youth court, and accepts regular instructions to prosecute on behalf of the CPS and Probation Service.
