Matt Kingswell prosecutes and defends across the full spectrum of criminal cases and he appears daily in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court. Matt has experience of cases involving violence, domestic abuse, public order, weapons, drugs, sexual offences and road traffic matters.
In addition to his criminal practice, Matt has experience of licencing matters and has acted on behalf of Transport for London in defending taxi licencing appeals. Matt also has experience of dealing with quasi-criminal cases, such as applications for Stalking Protection Orders and Sexual Risk Orders.
He also accepts instructions in regulatory and professional disciplinary matters.
Matt joined Chambers as a tenant in April 2025, following the successful completion of his pupillage.
Prior to Pupillage, Matt worked in the Regulatory department of a leading Solicitors firm (Capsticks LLP), where he investigated and prepared cases on behalf of the HCPC, GCC and TRA, working closely with many of Capsticks’ in-house Counsel. This has provided Matt with a strong grounding and experience in regulatory and professional disciplinary work.
