Cathryn Sutcliffe both prosecutes and defends, appearing regularly in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ and Youth Courts.
Cathryn is regularly instructed in a wide range of criminal matters involving; domestic abuse (including controlling and coercive behaviour), sexual offences, serious violence and dishonesty offences. Cathryn also has extensive experience in respect of motoring offences including in relation to applications for special reasons and exceptional hardship.
In addition to the criminal work that Cathryn has undertaken, she has appeared as Junior Counsel in the Privy Council. She also has experience in relation to Private Hire Vehicle and Taxi licensing appeals.
Prior to joining 2 Bedford Row, Cathryn worked for the Attorney General’s Office predominately advising the Law Officers in respect of sentencing appeals developing a specialism is this area.
