Acquittal in Nursery tragedy case

Quentin Hunt represented KJ, a nursery manager tried at Chelmsford Crown Court in respect of Health & Safety offences stemming from the death of Rhiya Malin a 2 ½ year old child attending the Eton Manor Nursery in Chigwell, Essex. It was argued that KJ did take reasonable care of the children under her supervision and that any failings lay elsewhere.

Out of four defendants Mr Hunt’s client was the only one acquitted following a three week Jury trial at Chelmsford Crown Court. The case is due to be the subject of an upcoming Channel 4 ‘Dispatches’ documentary ‘How safe is your child’s Nursery?’.
