Simon was junior counsel for the first defendant in the very high profile prosecution of HBoS directors and businessmen arising out of alleged fraud and corruption connected to the HBoS impaired assets division between 2003 and 2007. The case is said to be one of the largest frauds ever prosecuted, and HBoS’s alleged losses from the fraud are said to be in excess of £250m.
