Restraint Order Quashed
17/04/2008
William Clegg QC represented the appellant in the Court of Appeal in Re B who had been made the subject of a restraint order following his arrest for alleged money laundering. The Court discharged the order because they were not satisfied that there was sufficient evidence of a risk that the appellant would dissipate his assets. The respondent was ordered to pay the appellants costs in the Court of Appeal and in the Crown Court

R v Otis Brown

Michael Wolkind QC, recently secured the acquittal of a drug dealer, charged with murder, who fought back against a gang of robbers and stabbed to death one of his attackers. Otis Brown was also cleared by the jury of manslaughter and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Section 58 Criminal Justice Act 2003

Tracy Ayling QC acted for Richard Chad Johnson, one of three defendants in the Waddesdon Manor burglary. (The stately home of Lord Rothschild). After a prosecution application to appeal a terminating ruling under section 58 Criminal Justice Act 2003, the defendants were acquitted.

Jim Sturman QC acted for Irfan Raja an East London schoolboy whose conviction for possession of "Jihadist" propoganda was quashed by The Court of Appeal on 14/2/08.

General Medical Council v Dr E
18/02/2008
Case concluded 6/2/08

After a three week hearing before a General Medical Council Fitness to Practise Panel, Dr E, represented by Mark Milliken-Smith QC, was acquitted of eight heads of charge brought against him by the GMC relating to the alleged membership, downloading and browsing of child pornography websites. Dr E was accordingly acquitted of serious professional misconduct and permitted to return to practise.
