2 Bedford Row - the most influential set at the Bar?

Frances Gibb from The Times Online - September 5 2012

Ructions at the 4000-strong Criminal Bar Association after the recent elections for vice chair. Criminal silk Nigel Lithman QC takes over as the next vice chair (which is usually a passport to chairman the year after), after beating John Cooper QC, the media commentator, by 184 votes to 136.  A third silk, Kerim Fuad QC, garnered 73 votes.

But Cooper has now resigned in disgust, believing there was a "stop Cooper" campaign.  Lithman had the backing of the influential Peter Lodder QC, a past chairman of the Bar as well as of the CBA - and who shares the same Chambers at 2 Bedford Row.

Interestingly the set seems to have quite a grip at the top ranks of the Bar: it also turns out that Maura McGowan QC, who takes over as Bar chairman at the end of the year, is in the same set.  Is there no end to its influential reach?
