Magee & Wyatt Successfully Defend Wimbledon Ticket Fraud

Sam Magee (solicitors Bark & Co) and Tony Wyatt (solicitors TBC) defended Michael Mayiger and Michelle Khatan respectively on charges of fraud arising out of what was described as a multi million pound international ticket touting ring. Mayiger was alleged to have been at the head of the UK arm of Online Ticket Express, responsible for the unlawful sale of thousands of tickets to Premiership Football matches and Wimbledon Tennis Championship events on the Internet. Having secured their acquittal on charges relating to Wimbledon, Sam and Tony represented them at their sentencing hearing, Mr Mayiger and Ms Khatan having pleaded guilty in respect of the football ticket fraud. Following mitigation, both defendants were sentenced to suspended sentences of imprisonment in spite of it being alleged that Mr Mayiger was responsible for profits in the region of £3million for Online Ticket Express.
