Health and Safety- Steelwork Collapse
Quentin Hunt representing the Health and Safety executive has completed a two week prosecution of Landmark Groundworks Limited at Maidstone Crown Court. The defendant company was prosecuted following the collapse of steelwork and concrete at a building site in Kent through which deaths were narrowly averted and significant injuries occurred to a non employee of the defendant company. Following conviction, despite the fact that there was not a fatality in the case, the company received a six figure fine and a significant order for costs reinforcing the importance of companies maintaining their duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
