Maura has extensive experience in all areas of crime, most notably in murder, drugs, violent and sexual assault and child abuse. She has also appeared successfully in a number of baby murder trials.
Maura is also equally experienced in corporate, tax, VAT, charity and mortgage fraud. in the area of serious fraud she represented the only defendant in Operation Devout to be aquitted of MTIC carousel fraud.
In addition, Maura also carries out public inquiry work, for example, she represented the main police officer in the Victoria Climbie inquiry and in the police disciplinary hearing.
Maura McGowan QC - MEMBERSHIPS
Bar Council - serving on the Law Reform Committee and as Vice-Chariman of the Professional Practice (Ethics) Committee and as an elected general member of the Council.
Maura is the Director of Education and Training for the South Eastern Circuit and a serving member of the Criminal Bar Association.
