Mark Milliken-Smith Q.C. acted for the Gloucester and England rugby union player Lesley Vainikolo, who has been acquitted of charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and inflicting grievous bodily harm. The allegations arose out of an incident outside a nightclub in Bath - the player was alleged to have punched a fan whose skull was fractured as he fell to the pavement as a result of the blow. Vainikolo always maintained that he acted in self-defence.
