Profile

Katrina joined chambers in April 2009, after completing a successful eighteen-month pupillage in chambers.

Katrina prosecutes and defends those charged with a wide variety of offences, including serious violent offences, sexual offences and dishonesty matters.

She has developed a regular practice in the Youth, Magistrates and Crown Courts of London, Kent and East Anglia. She also accepts instructions to attend courts further afield.

Fraud

Katrina has begun being instructed as a led junior in complex fraud trials. She has become proficient at analyzing the detailed schedules that are often prepared in such  cases and cross referencing those schedules with the contents of witness statements and exhibits.

Katrina has assisted in the preparation of major fraud trials being handled by more senior members of chambers – whether through research, analysis of detailed figures and spreadsheets or general case preparation.

Young People

Katrina has a particular interest in representing youths. She has gained a wealth of Youth Court trial experience and has had considerable success on trials where identification has been in issue.  She defends youths facing serious charges, and recently represented a sixteen year old charged with inflicting grevious bodily harm, contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act."     

Confiscation

Katrina is developing experience in conducting confiscation hearings under the Proceeds of Crime Act. She has also represented individuals at both forfeiture and enforcement hearings.

Advisory work

Katrina has gained considerable experience in providing written advices for solicitors and other members of chambers on all aspects of criminal law.

Katrina has also been recently instructed as independent counsel in an arbitration between the Football Association and a player in relation to a contract dispute.

R v M Currently instructed as a led junior to represent one of six defendants in a trial where it is alleged that an elderly lady was defrauded of her savings and assets by her carers and their families.

R v A Currently instructed as a led junior to represent a company director facing allegations of fraudulent trading over a considerable period of time.

Murder/Manslaughter
R v V and others During pupillage, Katrina played a major role in preparing for and assisting with the prosecution of five men charged with a door-step revenge shooting in North Essex. She became proficient at completing the administration and providing the detailed analysis of case papers necessary in such a high-profile and lengthy trial.

Confiscation and Restraint
R v L and others As a led junior, represented Mr L, who was facing the confiscation of his assets after being convicted of a multi-million pound drugs conspiracy. Succeeded in reducing the benefit figure from £10 million to £750,000".

R v S and others Currently instructed in confiscation proceedings relating to a solicitor who facilitated the commission of a number of serious crimes.
