Title  Operation Gnawed

Date  17-Oct-2007

Text  Kieran Galvin leading Sandesh Singh represented a defendant charged with money laundering. She was one of eleven defendants charged with being involved in a series of over-lapping, multi-million pound 'MTIC' frauds on the Revenue and money laundering. The Crown had taken around three years to prepare what was a massive and complex prosecution. The trial at Nottingham Crown Court was estimated to last three months. Following submissions from all defence Counsel concerning the systemic failure of Revenue and Customs to comply with their disclosure obligations the case against all defendants was stayed as an abuse of process on 8th October 2007.
